There's A Treat Takeout Information

Tucked along the quiet stretch of coastal Maine, There’s A Treat Takeout feels like the kind of place you hear about from a local rather than stumble upon by accident. Sitting at There's A Treat Takeout, it’s perfectly positioned for anyone exploring Deer Isle who wants something quick, satisfying, and genuinely homemade without the fuss of a formal dining room.

The first thing that stands out is how unpretentious the setup is. It’s a classic takeout spot, but the simplicity works in its favor. The menu leans into comfort food with a coastal twist-think fresh seafood rolls, fried baskets, and hearty sandwiches that feel like they were made with care rather than churned out. On one visit, the lobster roll was generously packed and lightly dressed, letting the freshness of the lobster do most of the talking. The fries on the side were crisp and golden, the kind you keep reaching for even after you’re full.

Service here feels personal in a way that’s hard to fake. Orders are taken with a friendly, small-town warmth, and even during busier hours, there’s a sense that the staff genuinely enjoys what they’re doing. It’s not uncommon to hear a bit of conversation about the day’s catch or recommendations from the menu, which adds to the experience without slowing things down.

What makes this spot especially appealing is its connection to the local rhythm of Deer Isle. The location isn’t just convenient; it feels embedded in the community. Many reviews mention how it’s become a regular stop for both residents and returning visitors, and it’s easy to see why. The food is consistent, the portions are fair, and there’s a clear emphasis on quality ingredients, particularly when it comes to seafood.

The menu isn’t overly large, but that actually works to its advantage. Instead of overwhelming choices, you get a focused selection that’s been done well. While there may be occasional limitations depending on seasonal availability-something common in coastal Maine-the trade-off is fresher, better-tasting dishes.

Eating here is less about ambiance and more about the overall experience of grabbing great food and enjoying it wherever you like, whether that’s in your car, at a nearby scenic spot, or back at your lodging. It’s the kind of place that reminds you good food doesn’t need a fancy setting to leave a lasting impression.

What People's Say About Place

hearty burgers, fresh lobster rolls, and creamy ice cream. Perfect for a quick, satisfying meal with a family-friendly atmosphere and outdoor seating.

I underestimated this little order-at the window restaurant. We got there and immediately saw that this place gets a lot of business. We got the fried shrimp plate with fries, a side of spicy fries, and a lobster roll. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. While we waited for our food, we saw many people leave with delicious-looking ice cream cones! Definitely a good spot for your sweet tooth too! There is a lot of outdoor seating and a cute play area with a cut-out for pictures!

Great little stop after seeing Scott’s nature preserve. The crab roll was amazing and my husbands burger was really good too! There’s a little play area in the back for little kids and there’s picnic tables to eat.

If you are visiting Deer Isle, dont miss out on a treat from There’s A Treat! Delicious, fresh seafood. Very friendly service. AND….. gluten free fried food! This is a very rare find. It’s not your typical take out. The fried haddock is amazing. Many other seafood options. Gluten free fried onion rings too. I have heard that their burgers and soft serve ice cream are great too. This place may not look like much driving by, but it sure is worth stopping at. Do not think you have to pay $100 for a tasty, fresh cooked, local food meal.

We vacationed in Maine the last 2 years ('23/'24- we are from Alabama). As we were checking out Deer Isle, we stopped here in 2023 to grab a bite to eat and loved the burgers. Last year, as we were driving back to Camden from Acadia, we made the detour again to eat at this joint and glad we did! Good food and great memories made. Picture is from 2023

Stopped by for a cheeseburger. Had the TAT Burger with bacon. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Nice outdoor eating area and if you have kids, playground equipment. Fast service and very friendly staff.

Great little local spot where you feel like you’re coming home — no matter where you’re from! Picnic tables, playground, and porta-potty on site, order at the window for hot food and delicious treats. The vegan blueberry ice cream was to die for! Gluten-free topping options too in addition to hard and soft traditional ice cream.

The homemade pies and whoopie pies are a huge treat for sure! We ordered a whoopie pie, a slice of blueberry pie, and a slice of peanut butter pie to go and a hot fudge sundae to share while there. We’d driven by this place a few times during our stay and since it was always busy, decided to give it a try. But to be honest, after eating the sundae, I wasn’t going to leave a review as the icecream was a little grainy. But the homemade pies- OMG! Get yourself a carton of milk and loosen the belt! 5 out of 5 stars on all of them.
